being raised in a small idaho town, which had hundreds of thousands more acres of farmland than people, my immediate exposure to commercial buildings was limited. for this reason, i grew up loving visiting big cities and experiencing large buildings, wondering how they were built and maintained.

as i grew older my fascination with real estate continued to grow. i fortunately stumbled across a property management program at the school i was attending, brigham young university. i excitedly made a slight pivot in my career plans and enrolled in the program. in 2021 i graduated with a bachelor's degree in facility and property management and minors in business management and urban and city planning and immediately started working full time at woodbury corporation as a commercial property manager, where i had been working part time for a few months while i finished school. woodbury corporation is an owner operated, full-service real estate company. i manage a mixed portion of their portfolio, including office, medical office, industrial, and retail buildings in the salt lake metropolitan area, totaling 1 million square feet.

i am a cpm candidate, expecting to finish earning this title in early 2024. with this certification, as a property manager for one of utah’s largest real estate owners, and as a contributing member of the irem utah chapter, i am excited to continue to grow my career here in salt lake city and play a role in its economic and commercial real estate growth.
