nar issues report on marijuana and real estate

last week, the national association of realtors® (nar) published a report encapsulating the results of their membership survey, “marijuana and real estate: a budding issue.” the report begins by recognizing that as marijuana intersects with real estate, the demand for both residential and commercial properties is growing. commercial practitioners are finding increased demand for land, warehouses and storefronts for marijuana. residential practitioners are navigating an environment where marijuana is being grown and consumed within rental properties.

hud issues long-awaited guidance on service and emotional support animals

hud's new notice regarding reasonable accommodation for assistance animals under the fair housing act, while not resolving all of the issues we confront, does provide some meaningful guidance for housing providers. within this 19-page document including 61 footnotes and numerous admonitions that specific circumstances will impact its implementation, hud has weighed in on several important problem areas in a helpful way.
