january 12, 2022 – 11:00am central

learning objectives:

  • a brief summary of the challenges property managers faced in 2021
  • overview of the two infrastructure proposals, where they stand in congress, and how they may affect the real estate management industry
  • a look ahead to 2022 and the opportunities and challenges for the industry moving forward
  • 2022 is an election year. the midterm elections will be held where all 435 house seats and 34 senate seats are up for election. the session will address on how the midterms and the results will affect the real estate industry.

irem policy statements – business issues & fair housing and discrimination first to be revised

the irem legislative and public policy committee (lpp) and staff were hard at working during 2021 revising our policy statements. many of policy statements have not been revised for several years. as such, the lpp is undertaking a holistic, multi-phased review with this being the first round of modifications.

the intent is not to change irem’s current position in the policy statements; rather, the objective of the revisions is to include language that is more ‘evergreen’, consolidate where appropriate, ensure they are up to date with the latest regulations and technology, and are consistent with best practices. the first two categories to be revised is our business issues and fair housing and discrimination policies. the revisions were approved by the governing council at the global summit. please click on the link below to review.
