chicago (january 6, 2022) – the irem foundation welcomes its 2022 president karen l. pharr, cpm®, succeeding julie l. scott, cpm®. the foundation has also made changes to the board of directors, with new members appointed for the upcoming year. all changes are effective january 1, 2022.
a native el pasoan, karen’s career in property management spans more than 30 years. she’s managed all property types, including commercial, residential, industrial, and medical buildings. her current position is senior property manager for cushman & wakefield | pires, where she oversees a portfolio consisting of office, industrial and condo associations for institutional and private sector clients.
“i’m excited to lead the irem foundation as its 2022 president, along with a dynamic team of leaders and real estate management professionals dedicated to giving back to the profession,” says karen pharr, cpm®, 2022 irem foundation president. “with this group of leaders, we’re confident we can continue to grow and expand our work on diversity and inclusion, sustainability, and helping aspiring property managers reach their career goals.”
pharr recently served as irem foundation vice president, irem el paso chapter vice president, and irem governing councilor. she’s had the honor of holding the positions of irem region 7 vice president, and chairman of the national irem ethical inquiry board, among other committee assignments throughout irem.
pharr will lead a board of 22 irem members. leading alongside pharr is an experienced team of real estate managers dedicated to the foundation’s mission. the irem foundation leadership team consists of:
