the sustained excellence award is the highest honor of the energy star program awards. winners are part of a distinguished group committed to driving the clean energy transition. they are among the nation’s leaders in deploying energy efficiency to protect the environment and public health, and irem is honored to be named among them.
“for the sixth year in a row, irem is thrilled to receive the energy star partner of the year award,” says barry blanton, cpm®, 2022 irem president. “reducing greenhouse gas emissions created by the built environment is a priority for real estate managers, and irem continues to evolve programs including the csp certification and member education to provide tools and resources that deliver energy-efficient solutions to building managers around the world.”
to earn the 2022 award, irem led the following initiatives:
- launched an industrial properties version of the irem certified sustainable property (csp) program, a green building certification that leverages and promotes energy star tools and resources.
- further developed and deployed energy star portfolio manager’s api, web services, on the irem csp application platform.

and the irem foundation continues to fund sustainability projects through elaina’s sustainability fund grants.
